Are you in dire need? Whatever your life situation may be, If you seek God, you will find God. And amazing things will happen. That’s His promise.

You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13 NASB1995

Seek God with all your Heart

I find today’s mass’ first reading quite amusing and inspiring.

This is a beautiful story of someone in dire need seeking a supernatural answer to his problem.

He was seeking God, though he did not realize it then. He found God, as God promised.

1st Reading – 2 Kings 5:1-15AB

1 Naaman, the army commander of the king of Aram, was highly esteemed and respected by his master, for through him the LORD had brought victory to Aram. But valiant as he was, the man was a leper.

2 Now the Arameans had captured in a raid on the land of Israel a little girl, who became the servant of Naaman’s wife. “If only my master would present himself to the prophet in Samaria,”

3 she said to her mistress, “he would cure him of his leprosy.”

4 Naaman went and told his lord just what the slave girl from the land of Israel had said.

5 “Go,” said the king of Aram. “I will send along a letter to the king of Israel.” So Naaman set out, taking along ten silver talents, six thousand gold pieces, and ten festal garments.

6 To the king of Israel he brought the letter, which read: “With this letter I am sending my servant Naaman to you, that you may cure him of his leprosy.”

7 When he read the letter, the king of Israel tore his garments and exclaimed: “Am I a god with power over life and death, that this man should send someone to me to be cured of leprosy? Take note! You can see he is only looking for a quarrel with me!”

8 When Elisha, the man of God, heard that the king of Israel had torn his garments, he sent word to the king: “Why have you torn your garments? Let him come to me and find out that there is a prophet in Israel.”

9 Naaman came with his horses and chariots and stopped at the door of Elisha’s house.

10 The prophet sent him the message: “Go and wash seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will heal, and you will be clean.”

11 But Naaman went away angry, saying, “I thought that he would surely come out and stand there to invoke the LORD his God, and would move his hand over the spot, and thus cure the leprosy.

12 Are not the rivers of Damascus, the Abana and the Pharpar, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be cleansed?” With this, he turned about in anger and left.

13 But his servants came up and reasoned with him. “My father,” they said, “if the prophet had told you to do something extraordinary, would you not have done it? All the more now, since he said to you, ‘Wash and be clean,’ should you do as he said.”

14 So Naaman went down and plunged into the Jordan seven times at the word of the man of God. His flesh became again like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

15 He returned with his whole retinue to the man of God. On his arrival he stood before him and said, “Now I know that there is no God in all the earth,
except in Israel.”

What does it mean to seek God with all our hearts?

Seeking God with all our hearts means coming to God, with all that we are

God wants us to come to Him happy or sad, contented or needy, accomplished or feeling like a failure.

Even though we think we’re so unworthy or filthy with sin, we can seek God and He will allow Himself to be found.

It’s interesting that the first reading talks about leprosy.

Because sin is like that.

It eats away at our soul, causing our senses to be numbed so we do not feel guilty at all but slowly, we get disfigured and eaten away by the virus of sin.

Do your feel overtaken with your sin?

Seek God with all your heart.

Are you in need and at the end of your rope? Seek God with all your heart.

Oftentimes, it’s only when we are in so much need that we realize we need something supernatural to help us out.

Seeking God with all our hearts means obeying what He tells us to do.

Naaman found God when he obeyed what the servant of God Elisha told him to do.

On his arrival he stood before him and said, “Now I know that there is no God in all the earth, except in Israel.” 2 Kings 5

Most of the time we seek God in our dire need, but when we sense what He wants us to do, we don’t do it.

It’s too hard, was it really God, or was it just me?.. It’s too easy, it can’t be that easy, it’s so inconvenient to do it, I’m not ready, I don’t like it… etc, etc.

We have so many excuses.

But when we just step out in faith and do what God tells us to do, amazing things will happen.

Because then we’ll see Him and His power working on our situation.

Seeking God means totally surrendering and giving your life to Jesus, the Living Water

14 So Naaman went down and plunged into the Jordan seven times at the word of the man of God. 2 Kings 5

Naaman was told to wash and plunge himself in the Jordan River seven times.

Seven is the number of God. It denotes completeness. Totality. Fullness.

When we seek God, He wants us to give our lives totally to Jesus, the Living Water, and plunge our lives completely into the streams of His grace and Mercy.

Then we will be washed clean off the leprosy of sin.

Jesus will make us whole again, mind, body, soul, and spirit.

And when we’re whole from the inside out, this will mirror in our personal circumstances.

God’s Blessing inside us will overflow and overcome what is on the outside of us.

Things will definitely change for the better.

You will Find God

When we seek God with all our hearts, we will find God.

That’s God’s promise. And He always does what He promises.

What a blessing to know we have a supernatural God who does amazing things on our behalf. Who heals us and saves us.

That’s why we who know God need to share this amazing Good news to wherever and whoever God calls us to share to.

It’s what the Jewish servant girl who knows of the miraculous things God does through his prophet Elisha did. She shared the good news.

2 Now the Arameans had captured in a raid on the land of Israel a little girl, who became the servant of Naaman’s wife. “If only my master would present himself to the prophet in Samaria,” 3 she said to her mistress, “he would cure him of his leprosy.” 2 Kings 5

Naaman who did not know God sought Him through his servant, Elisha the prophet, because of this servant girls’ testimony.

Long story short, he obeyed what the servant of the Lord told him to do and he got healed!

Not only that Naaman got healed, but He also came to know the Living God and he gave his life to Him as God’s servant.

Even though he’s still employed by his earthly king, he promised allegiance to the One true God.

When we seek God, amazing things happen.

We overcome by the blood of the lamb and word of our testimony, the truth which we proclaim.

And they overcame and conquered him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony. Revelation 12:11 AMP

Even though we be stained by sin as red as scarlet.

Now Your Turn

Are you steeped in sin? Seek God.

You feel unworthy and unloved? Seek God.

You have a financial need? Seek God.

Are you sick? Seek God.

When sad, in danger, or whatever your situation may be.

Seek God with all your heart.

Go to Him with all that you are.

Obey what He tells you to do.

Plunge yourself in the Rivers of Living Water, Jesus, completely.

And then you will see God with all His power and glory working on your situation.

You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
