My Pain, My Purpose: How to find purpose in life
Do you want to know how to find purpose in life? Let me share with you how I found mine.
Hi, my name is Anna Lovella Velasquez. My family and friends call me ‘Tata’. It means “baby”. You can call me that if you like. Today I’m gonna share with you my personal story and why I started this blog.
In 2011, my father got diagnosed with Aortic Abdominal aneurysm.
I’m a nurse and I can tell you.. It’s not good news. For those of you who do not know what that is.. It is a weakened blood vessel, the biggest artery in our body, that bulges like a balloon..that when stretched to its limits could pop exactly like a balloon and the person bleeds out internally.
He was advised a major operation but before it can be done, he’s heart was first checked to see if it can hold up to the stress. We found out that a major artery in his heart was also blocked and he needed a heart bypass. So my father needed 2 major surgeries to be done on him ASAP.
We were told to prepare about a million. Sadly, we didn’t have that kind of money..we don’t even have any savings to begin with..and no health insurance.
But the Lord is good..I was able to apply my father into our hospital’s charity service which allowed us a 50% discount in the procedures and tests and free for doctors’ professional fees and also I was able to ask for his total medical bills to be deducted in installment basis from my salary.
He was discharged well and good, thank God. But we were deep in debt. So my father was forced into early retirement. He paid up our debts and with what’s left of his retirement money, built us a house which has been my mother’s dream for a long time.
Unfortunately, he didn’t change his lifestyle in spite of our constant warnings and loving reprimands.. He went back smoking..and lived a highly physically stressful life. After 1 year, his heart problem came back and after two years he died of a heart attack.
I was deply saddened by his death.. Although I don’t show it much. He could have lived 15 more years and enjoyed his retirement.
That’s why I’m now more passionate about learning how to be healthy.. To learn how to prevent diseases so I can live long. I read last night during my bible reading:
Then the Lord said, “I will not allow people to live for ever; they are mortal. From now on they will live no longer than 120 years.” (Genesis 6:3 GNBDK)
That’s what I’m claiming for… To live 120 years.. with vigor and undimmed eyes just like Moses. Because that’s what the Lord promised. Imagine what we can do for God and for the world if we live that long and that healthy?
And that’s also why I’m passionate about becoming wealthy.. To learn how to create wealth. So I can give the best to my family.. So that if ever we would face any major financial needs again..we will have what we need without getting into debt. So that I can give without counting the cost.. I also dream of establishing a charitable foundation so I can help others financially especially those with heart problems… So that I can retire early without waiting till I’m 65 so I can spend more time doing what I really love like going to missions, studying music and Sponsoring vacations with family and friends, all expense paid by me.
That has become my vision and mission in life.. To help God’s people become healthy, wealthy and victorious in Christ so they can overcome their challenges in life, pursue their dreams and live their lives for the glory of God.
I admit i haven’t attained to that yet. But every day I strive to learn and be better. That’s what I’ll be sharing in this blog. My journey to health, wealth and victory… My learnings and tips that could also be helpful to you.. If you’re like me who wants a healthier, wealthier and victorious life, I invite you to follow along.. And together, we can be blessed to bless others.
